This movie was so different than what I was expecting. One that made me think far more than feel, which I was shocked by after Past Lives. In that case, I found it sort of interesting if that was the intention. But overall I wanted to feel much more. That being said it’s a beautifully shot film, and I am interested in seeing it again!
Omg you captured so much of what I also felt about the film! I thought the ending didn't feel earned too. Like perhaps if she had kept her job and taken the promotion (despite really not wanting to) because someone needs to support her and her husband, or had ended up choosing the wealthy man because of the reality that having no money is a very tough existence, I felt like there could have been interesting narrative to explore in both of those grey area endings. But this one felt almost too neat.
oh, I LOVE your first proposed ending as a possible middle ground that honors the concerns she's had throughout while also trying to follow her heart--so interesting!! But yes, agreed!!
You’ve beautifully captured everything I couldn’t see to put into words. Bravo 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
oh you're too kind, but thank you!! I'm so glad it makes sense outside my head haha

that's such a good point--clearly I really enjoyed puzzling it through, too! and AGREED, the aesthetics are always stunning!
